Scores Fourth-Place Finish at Lawton
Speedway

Promotions - LAWTON, Okla. (July 15,
2015) - Cody Wampler picked up his
second top-five finish of the season
last Saturday at Lawton Speedway.
"I feel like we
have some momentum," he said. "Things
stayed together and that's two weeks in
a row we've finished. That wasn't the
ideal track for making a lot of passing
either. It was tacky and fast. For us
the slicker it is the better. But we
finished ahead of some of the faster,
front-runner cars."
Wampler and car
owner Randall Buzbee kicked off the
event by advancing from fourth to second
place during a heat race.
"Everything
went pretty decent," Wampler said. "We
actually led a few laps of it and then
we got passed toward the end. We were a
little tight and I had a push. A guy got
underneath us and got by us."
Wampler then
lined up on the outside of the fourth
row for the 20-lap main event.
"They go off a
points average system so the more we
finish up front the further we start
back," he said. "The track was really
rough and had some big ruts in it. We
passed a couple of cars within the first
lap and then I picked off a couple. I
got by a guy for fourth probably seven
laps in and we got a caution. They put
me back behind him for the restart. It
took another lap to get by him. If we
wouldn't have got that caution there I
think we would have been in decent
shape. Or if we'd have had another
caution later that would have helped
us."
Wampler managed
to work his way into third place before
being passed late by one driver in the
race. He finished with a fourth-place
result, which was his second-best finish
of the year.
Wampler is
taking this weekend off before returning
to action at Lawton Speedway on July 25.
